Here’s a gallery of photos of some of the dishes we were served at lunches and dinners during my 16-day China Garden Tour from Shanghai to Beijing calling at Suzhou, Guilin, Xian and Luoyang.
Each meal was a sumptuous banquet with a seemingly never ending number of dishes of food being delivered from start to finish.
Being from Vancouver, most us were very familiar with Chinese food, but we were nevertheless surprised and delighted by the variety and range of colour and presentation of many of the dishes, many of which we had not seen before.
An assortment of meat, seafood and vegetable dishes were mixed with creative soups and side dishes.
Here a mere sample of what we have been served. You understand that taking these pictures had to be done very quickly and discreetly so as not to disturb the joy of the meal itself, so these were snapped in a second rather than magazine-type set up shoots. Still, you get a good idea of the care taken in presentation.
